Why Wedding Songs Are Important
Wedding songs are a vital part of any wedding day celebrations. From the ceremony to the last dance, music will set the tone and ambiance of the day, they will entertain your guests and provide the transition from one element of the day to another. It is therefore very important that you choose your wedding songs according to each area of your day and that you choose them with your guests and yourselves in mind. You will need to find songs for your ceremony, background music for your cocktail hour and wedding breakfast, a song for when you cut the wedding cake, the first dance and the following evening party. It can be tempting to simply pick up a compilation CD of music for weddings and play that throughout most of your day. However, your wedding songs need to be chosen with your own tastes in mind, those of your guests and the style of your wedding. A formal, traditional wedding would call for classical music to be played in the background during the cocktail hour and wedding breakfast, whilst a less formal, casual wedding could have instrumental versions of popular songs. When considering your own choice of music genre it is important to remember that what you like may not be to the taste of your guests and in some cases far from appropriate for a wedding. Whilst it is always preferable to have music which reflects your own style and tastes, you also need to consider your guests, especially if you want them to stick around till the very end! Choose background which isn?t loud or too somber, but which is enough to relax your guests and have them chatting amongst themselves without having to compete with the music. When it comes to the evening entertainment you want music which will get everyone up onto the dance floor and which will keep them there. Choose popular disco classics and maybe throw in a few songs of your own choice too! If you are hiring a DJ for your evening entertainment make sure they can keep the music playing and keep the crowd entertained. Work with them to put together a playlist that suits both you and your guests. You should also make sure that the DJ avoids playing any remixes or unfamiliar versions of popular songs ? there is nothing that can clear a dance floor quicker than songs that no one knows or wants to dance to! Ask around friends and family for recommendations and also register with online wedding forums where you can pick the brains of other brides-to-be and wedding professionals. I do recommend starting looking for your wedding songs early on in the wedding planning as it can take time to source suitable tracks and narrow them down in to a shortlist.
